On Saturday, Kate and I made cookies using the recipe on the back of the Sun Maid Raisin box.  I was shocked;  it was a good recipe.  I tried to explain the concept of why we mix things.  And then there’s the skill of mixing or stirring — perhaps a little much for a two-year-old.  [...]

God brought us a gift in September.

First, some botanical history of our side yard.  Our side yard has a hose outlet, but no way to run automatic sprinklers or even a watering system with out cutting into the cement, which we have to move our trashcans over.  We tried putting containers and trellises outside our [...]

Saturday was perfect–absolutely beautiful if you were at the Getty Museum.  We kids brought a pot-luck lunch of tri tip, Russian potato salad, bean salad, apple pie and iced tea for dad (The Getty allows this) and sat on the dining patio enjoying the great views, the lovely fall weather and one another.  There was a Bernini [...]

We need some structure.  When I have no structure, one item for the day seems to expand and take up the rest of the day.  And it’s not that that one thing doesn’t need that much time, but that it’s necessary to limit the amount of time I give anything so that I get more done.

 Don’t I have a resourceful husband?
Thank you, Lord, that Roman can carry a wobbly headed baby at the same time he [...]

Today I put up [froze] 9 lunches and two dinners of chicken stew.  And then I did inventory. Hmmmm. I still have a lot of chicken stew from my last batch. Oooops.  At least this batch is different in that I used Shitake mushrooms, potatoes and sour cream.
I started a pot of borscht yesterday, but didn’t get [...]

What is it about bald men that is so delicious?  So yummy?

You just want to kiss them all over.

Does anyone know what these bugs are?

Yes, I know what they’re doing.  What I want to know is what species of creepy-crawly they be.  They don’t seem to be eating any thing, but why would a bug hang out on a tomoto if he wasn’t about to eat it?

Today, we broke out the playdough that [...]
